The mesh is fine enough to catch small seeds but not so fine that it slows down draining. I've washed them in the dishwasher several times and they look great. Definitely a good buy.

I've been cooking for 50 years and these are some of the best strainers I've owned. The 7-7/8 inch one is perfect for my big pots. They feel solid and don't bend.
The mesh is very fine, which is good for rinsing grains. But the handles get hot if you're draining something right off the stove. Also, they're a bit hard to store because they don't nest fully. Still, they're a good value.
